The meaning behind the term ‘Project Manager’
Project management is a term that tends to get thrown around a lot in business circles, but what does it really mean to be a project manager? At its core, a project manager (PM) is responsible for steering a project from concept to completion. PMs have to juggle multiple balls simultaneously – time, budget, scope, and resources – and this juggling often occurs while having to balance the needs and expectations of both their team and stakeholders.

Coordinating – Manage day-to-day operations on-site, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure each phase progresses smoothly.
Problem-solving – Address unexpected issues, such as delays in material deliveries or even labour shortages, and make adjustments to keep the project on track and within budget.
Complying with safety – Oversee safety protocols to protect workers and ensure compliance with all relevant construction regulations.
Communicating – Act as the liaison between the construction team, architects, engineers, and clients to keep everyone informed and aligned.
Leading – Motivate the team, foster collaboration, and sometimes even mediate conflicts.
