Role Summary:
The MEP Digital Design Technician will be supporting the Design Manager in the evolution of the product. You will carry out a variety of design and drafting tasks while working as a member of the Design Team, under the direction of the Design Manager.
As well as maintaining the physical and digital records of the designs, you will be involved with the development of MEP proposals. Alongside our in-house delivery team and external consultants, you will be supporting the design development as required by our clients.
Although experience of computer aided 3D design would be an advantage, training will be provided. You will be producing and maintaining the product’s 3D models, creating assembly and manufacturing drawings in the proper 2D format, and maintaining part and component hierarchies. You will create and maximise the use of subassemblies, while maintaining design adaptability and successfully address the growing demand for product diversity and variations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use Autodesk Revit software to maintain three-dimensional building services designs.
- Produce 2D drawings and details from 3D models.
- Maintain existing drawings to reflect approved changes properly
- Follow the guidelines for the design, manufacturer and delivery of the product.
- Produce consistency through different projects.
- Participate actively in design team meetings.
- Comply with issue control management for documentation and calculations, to record product evolution.
- Support the Design Team to discharge any conditions or approvals.
- Support the Design Team to meet agreed deadlines.
- Action feedback and comments from clients and colleagues to assist with the ongoing development of the product.
- Comply with the processes stipulated under the company quality assurance processes, liaising with all relevant stakeholders as required.
- Work in a safe and sensible manner within the boundaries of the Company Health and Safety Policy and any additional site restrictions.
Education:
- Ideally a qualification in building services or similar discipline, however engineering or other built environment qualification will be considered.
- Minimum English and Maths pass at GCSE or equivalent
- A-level/Btec or equivalent
Experience and knowledge:
- Experience using Autodesk Revit MEP an advantage
- Knowledge/experience of other Autodesk products, such as AutoCAD
- Knowledge of MMC and offsite product manufacture would be an advantage.
- Understanding of new product design development.
- Understanding of work in a building services environment (mechanical and electrical).
