
Role Summary
The MEP Design Coordinator will be supporting the Design Manager in the evolution of the product. You will lead the design development and coordination of a single or multiple projects while working as a member of the Design Team, under the direction of the Design Manager.
You will be the key point of contact throughout the development of MEP proposals. Alongside our in-house delivery team and external consultants, you will be instrumental in the design development as required by our clients.
Although experience of computer aided 3D design would be an advantage, a clear understanding of the requirements of BIM Level 2 is essential. You will be responsible for ensuring the relevant drawings and information is delivered in line with the client’s specification and expectations, and all deadlines are achieved. You will engage with all relevant project stakeholders and ensure the design intent is clearly communicated, while maintaining design adaptability, compliance and successfully address the growing demand for product diversity and variations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the design to agreed timescales and budgets
- Follow the guidelines for the design, manufacturer and delivery of the product.
- Comply with issue control management for documentation and calculations, torecord product evolution.
- Ensure any conditions or approvals are discharged.
- Ensure the project design programme and all agreed deadlines are met.
- Respond to queries and support the factory and site delivery staff.
- Ensure the design is compliant to all relevant Regulations and specifications.
- Ensure the MEP design is fully coordinated with other disciplines.
- Produce consistency through different projects.
- Participate actively in design team meetings.
- Review, comment and approve drawings and technical documents where required, from external consultants and internal technicians/engineers
- Action feedback and comments from clients and colleagues to assist with the ongoing development of the product.
- Work in a safe and sensible manner within the boundaries of the Company Healthand Safety Policy and any additional site restrictions.
Education:
- Ideally a qualification in building services or similar discipline, however engineering or other built environment qualification will be considered.
- Minimum English and Maths pass at GCSE or equivalent
- A-level/Btec or equivalent
Experience and knowledge:
- Experience of work in a building services environment (mechanical and electrical).
- Experience of design coordination to RIBA Stage 5
- Knowledge/experience of BIM Level 2
- Experience using Autodesk Revit MEP an advantage
- Knowledge/experience of other Autodesk products, such as AutoCAD
- Knowledge of MMC and offsite product manufacture would be an advantage.
- Understanding of new product design development.
